Luigi says he will work with Jonas

CEBU, Philippines - Congressman-elect Gabriel “Luigi” Quisumbing assured he can work closely with reelected Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes for the development of Mandaue even if they belong to different political parties.

Quisumbing said that the elections was over and it is now the time for unity to work together for the development of the country.

He assured to start this unity in Mandaue City by working closely with Cortes and the other city officials.

Quisumbing supported the mayoralty bid of outgoing Congresswoman Nerissa Soon-Ruiz while Cortes supported his brother Areston “Baludong” Cortes III.

Quisumbing said there is a need for them to focus in giving solutions to the problems affecting the people in the district especially in Mandaue City.

He recalled to have announced his 10-point agenda during the campaign which include infrastructure, business development, good governance, barangay development, health tourism, housing, education, drug rehabilitation and program for senior citizens.

Quisumbing said the realization of these programs depend on the support of the people and the officials of the LGUs in the district, including Mandaue.

The problem of unemployment in the district especially in Mandaue City, is one of the concerns that Quisumbing wanted to give immediate attention.

He hopes to establish soon a labor and employment training center in Mandaue City and in the towns of Consolacion and Cordova.

The center will assist the people looking for jobs and other concerns of the residents in the district. – THE FREEMAN
