Bakud party bets for 5th district bared

CEBU, Philippines - The candidates for mayor, vice mayor and councilors in Danao City and eight municipalities under the Barug Alang sa Kauswagan ug Demokrasya headed by 5th district Rep. Ramon “Red” Durano VI were formally proclaimed yesterday at the Danao City Civic Center.

 As this developed, the group also announced their support for the re-election bid of Governor Gwen Garcia.

 However, they are still in consultations on who to support for president.

 Rep. Durano was assisted by his father Danao City Mayor Ramon “Nito” Durano III, who is running for vice mayor in next year’s election.

 According to Rep. Durano, the proclamation of their local slate proves that they are ready for next year’s elections.

 Rep. Durano said the local officials in Cebu fifth district under BAKUD will continue their plans and programs for the development of the district.

 The fifth district solon who is seeking re-election next year said that their party BAKUD was formed in l992 and they are expanding their members at the barangay level.

 He admitted that there is a need for them to continue their relationship for the good of the whole 5th district.

 Rep. Durano was also proclaimed as candidate for the district by his father, Mayor Nito Durano being the father of the BAKUD Party.

 Aside from Red Durano, also proclaimed were candidates for the Provincial Board re-electionist PB member Agnes Magpale and Jude Thaddeus Durano Sybico, son of last-termer PB member Rosemarie Durano.

 But Durano also said in Liloan town they are not fielding a mayoralty candidate, they are only supporting a vice mayoralty candidate against incumbent Mayor Vincent Franco “Duke” Frasco. — Jose P. Sollano/BRP   (FREEMAN NEWS)
