POEA to award best anti-illegal recruitment LGUs

-

CEBU, Philippines – The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration recently launched the best PAIR (Partner in Anti-Illegal Recruitment) Award, the search for best partner of the POEA in the intensive anti-illegal recruitment campaign in the grassroots level by local government units.

The search rewards the outstanding accomplishments and contributions on the campaign against illegal recruitment in three categories: Outstanding Local Government Unit Partner, Outstanding Public Employment Services Office and Outstanding Private Entity Partner.

There has been an increasing number of victims against illegal recruitment every year. This triggered the POEA to intensify and sustain more strategies in the campaign against illegal recruitment and trafficking in persons nationwide, particularly in the barangay level.

In result, POEA focused its efforts and vigorously joined forces with the LGUs and LGUs PESO who plays a critical role in continuing the illegal recruitment campaign drive.

POEA will also confer an award to local government units and other anti-illegal recruitment partners who have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with POEA.

The first awarding ceremony is set for November this year while the PAIR Awards ceremonies will be held annually during Migrant Workers Week Celebration in June. —Barbara Anne B. Ocaba/STC Masscom intern/BRP (THE FREEMAN)
