-
Power outages will hit different parts of Cebu City tomorrow, Saturday, and Sunday due to the Visayan Electric Company's scheduled maintenance and various line works.

From 8 a.m. to noontime tomorrow, Saturday, portions of J. Seno Street and C. Tudtud Street in barangay Mabolo, together with portions of Nashville Subdivision in barangay Banilad, will experience power interruptions because there will be an upgrading of line protection in some parts of Nasipit in Banilad.

For the same period, brownouts will also occur in barangay Calamba, particularly L. Lopez Drive and portions of sitios Alseca and Mangga.

A reinstallation and replacement of defective line hardware and erecting of a 40-foot concrete pole will also take place in barangay Labangon affecting A. Lopez Street, and A. Lopez Extension, Balaga Drive, Bliss Subdivision, Perpetual Valley Subdivision, including sitios Kamalit, Uclahai, Mahayahay, Lutaw-Lutaw and Bonbonan.

On Sunday, starting 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., VECO will replace broken and rotten poles along Cabreros Street into concrete ones and upgrade the power system from 13.8 kilovolts to 23 kilovolts. Such will result to brownouts on short durations from a minimum of 30 minutes up to a maximum of 10 hours.

VECO said that the power interruption will also enable the transfer of power load to the Pardo substation. Areas that will be affected are from corner L. Gabuya Street up to corner highway Basak and Seaside Alumnos, including Friendship Village, part of Bontores Street, Dejos compound, Globelines Cabinet, sitio Bamboo Groove, PLDT Cabinet, Janssen Site road, part of Alumnos Basak, dyLA transmitter, sitio Ipil, New Carlock Subdivision, St. Joseph Janssen Church, Caña Subdivision and Del Rosario compound. - Wenna A.
