French Heaven

- Deneb Batucan STC -

CEBU, Philippines - A piece of heaven has opened at the Centro Arcade of Capitol Site.

Macaron Tango Café is a French bistro complete with the most delectable and mouth-watering French dishes – definitely one of the best tasting restaurants in the metro.

This newly opened restaurant is owned and manned by Remy Laster, a French chef who lives here in Cebu with his wife/marketing officer, Resanna. The restaurant got started because the couple simply wanted to open up a business. They wanted to start small, just a small restaurant with only one item on the menu, like an ice cream shop. Then came the idea of starting a shop specializing in macarons.

Macarons are sweet confectionary that is usually filled with either buttercream or jam. At Macaron Tango Café, they add a twist of chocolate in every macaron bite. One of their best selling flavors are the pistachio macarons filled with white chocolate and pistachio, as well as mixed berry macarons with white chocolate. You'll have a delicious, happy feeling in every bite, without doubt.

Resanna said that you can't eat macarons alone. You have to have something to go with it. And the name Macaron Tango was born. She explained the name of their restaurant in an infamous quotation: "It takes two to tango." This is why they expanded their menu to suit the needs of the customers, as well as introduce to the Cebuanos the sophisticated and scrumptious French cuisine.

Remy is from the southern part of France, very near Spain, and their dishes are a lot like Filipino dishes – with just the right mix of salty and sweet. Resanna often checks the French food that Remy prepares to see if it's fit for the Filipino taste buds.

"Our restaurant is like an extension of your kitchen. Even if you eat here, we prepare your food the way you prepare it at home," said Resanna. Macaron Tango boasts of their fine French dishes served only with fresh ingredients. "Remy goes grocery shopping everyday for our ingredients," she said.

You can really tell by the taste of their food that it was made from fresh ingredients. Their Pizza Solano was an absolute heaven. Most of the time, when we eat pizzas with veggie toppings, they are very dry and tasteless. Macaron Tango's pizzas are an exception. All the toppings were juicy and tasty and you can feel the amazing flavors exploding inside your mouth like a delicious firework.

Macaron Tango Café has a small menu, but you'll really have a hard time choosing from their pizzas, to their pastas, to their sandwiches and quiches. Every single dish has a guaranteed burp. In every bite of their Quiche Loraine, a traditional French dish, it seems like French music is resounding in your ears, taking you to a little mind travel to France.

Heaven is an understatement. When you push the doors of the restaurant to take a step outside, all you think about is the next time you'll be pushing those doors to the inside and order up another fantastic French dish. Jouir et savourer les cuisine délicieuse et céleste à café Macaron Tango!
