Demi Lovato dishes on her Glee character
CEBU, Philippines - Demi Lovato is pulling double duty for the Fox network --- serving as a returning judge on reality singing competition "The X Factor" and filming her guest arc on "Glee."
The all-grown-up Disney alum is set to play Dani on the show. Out of high school, she is expected to have a relationship with Naya Rivera's Santana character.
"I get to play a lesbian on the show and that's something that I feel like hasn't really been brought to primetime with, you know, as a young actress," Demi told Access Hollywood.
"And I think it represents where our society is today. It's becoming the norm and I'm really glad that I get to represent that -- how far we've come. Fifteen years ago, you wouldn't have seen that on TV, but now people are becoming more comfortable with it and I'm glad that I get to represent that, and also, just hopefully inspire people with my character to love and accept who they are and not give a crap what other people think."
Demi is also happy to be a part of the "Glee" cast because it allows her to work with people she is already pals with. The actress/singer/judge is close with Lea Michele, and she said the actress, who is grieving the loss of Corey Monteith, is hanging in there.
As for that "X Factor" job, Demi said the latest crop of talent has been very impressive. "So much great talent is going to come out of this show this year."
"Glee" returns to Fox on Sept. 26 while "The X Factor," Season 3 premieres on the network on Sept. 11. (FREEMAN)
