Robin padilla to quit week-old "Pilipinas Win Na Win"?

CEBU, Philippines - Only a week after the new noontime show Pilipinas Win Na Win debuted as replacement of Wowowee, reports are now rife that its only male host, Robin Padilla, is quitting the show for good.

The Philippine Star reported yesterday, in Ricky Lo’s Funfare column, that as Robin Padilla bids goodbye to the viewers of the show today, “it might be for good, and not just for the meantime” contrary to a press statement released by the network that he is taking a five-week leave in deference to the Ramadan, as Robin is a devout Muslim.

Lo, quoting a network source, said: “When the ABS-CBN management talked to Robin, he was made to believe that he would have a show with Mariel Rodriguez, his rumored girlfriend, while Kris would have a show with Pokwang, and Willie Revillame his own solo show. That means three different shows. Imagine how dismayed Robin was when he learned from the TV plug that his and Mariel’s show was going to be with Kris and Wowowee holdovers Pokwang and Valerie Concepcion. Naturally, Robin felt ‘cheated’.”

He also made mention that the three shows were actually already finalized second week of July, but that a certain group from the network was strongly opposed to Willie’s supposed return to his long-running noontime show last July 31, after serving his three-month “vacation cum suspension.” Instead, the new show Pilipinas Win Na Win was hastily hatched.

He further wrote: “It goes without saying that beside Kris, the irrepressible Lady of Talk, anybody pitted with her will pale in comparison. If you haven’t noticed, on PWNW when Kris appears, those beside her are reduced into mere ladies-in-waiting without Kris’ wanting nor meaning to. Come to think of it, only somebody of Willie’s caliber can match Kris’ inexhaustible energy.”

In addition, Pep.ph, which cited unnamed sources, reported last Aug. 5, in an article entitled "Robin Padilla poised to leave Pilipinas Win Na Win," that another reason that Robin is leaving the show is because of the marked difference and incompatibility of his hosting style and personality with that of Kris. Whose style, then will be followed, considering that both of them enjoy equal billing?

Robin has not released any official statement on that matter, but Pep.ph reported that he is scheduled to talk about the issue on Entertainment Live this Saturday, the showbiz talk show of his rumored girlfriend, Mariel Rodriguez.
