Satellite television is now being enjoyed by passengers of SuperFerry following the signing of a partnership accord between Dream TV and WG&A.
Barbara Pardo, marketing services manager of Dream Satellite TV, said the broadcasting firm has entered into a contract with WG&A for the provision of a state-of-the art satellite signal tracking system, which is now available on board SuperFerry 12, 15 and 16.
"Passengers of SuperFerry can now keep abreast with the Iraq war on CNN or not miss their favorite telenovelas on local free-to-air channels even while they are out in the sea," Pardo said.
The partnership also makes SuperFerry the first commercial liner to provide this type of service in the Philippines. This is in line with the companys commitment to provide the best onboard entertainment for its passengers.
With Dream Satellite TV, SuperFerry passengers can now enjoy as much as 52 channels of live TV entertainment. Amusement on board then, prior to this partnership, was limited to games or pre-taped entertainment.
"This will be a big boost to our local tourism industry," said a SuperFerry official, as local tourists are looking for more cost-efficient and more enjoyable ways to travel.
Dream Satellite TV is the first local company that offers DTH or direct-to-home satellite TV service in the country, a wireless technology that has been touted as a viable alternative to cable-based broadcasting systems.
Dream formally launched its DTH TV in 2001 using transponder space from Mabuhay Satellite Agila II and a broadcast center located at the Clark special economic zone in Pampanga.
