Emerson Network Power launches region-wide initiative to future-proof business operations

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A recent inductee into the IT and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP), Emerson Network Power, a business of Emerson and a global leader in maximizing availability, capacity and efficiency of critical infrastructure, announced an Asia-wide initiative that would help organizations “future-proof” their IT-based operations, in light of the exponential growth of data and the resulting rapid changes to the data center.

One of the company’s priorities for this initiative is the business process outsourcing (BPO) industry, considered one of the fastest-growing markets in the Philippines.

The BPO industry has long been considered as one of the top industries in the Philippines, with the government earning $10 billion in revenues in 2013. Just recently, Manila edged Mumbai to rank second in Tholons’ Top 100 Outsourcing Destinations in 2014, with Cebu, Davao, Sta. Rosa in Laguna, Iloilo, and Baguio City also ranking in the list.

Intensive 24/7 operations are characteristic of BPO companies, with each organization faced not only with the daunting task of handling huge amounts of data, but also how to effectively store and preserve them.

As a global leader in enabling business-critical continuity, Emerson Network Power understands the challenges of setting up the right kind of infrastructure to support business-critical data and provides innovative solutions to help businesses grow.

“As the country’s BPO industry continues to grow at a fast pace, so does the need for BPO companies to maintain the integrity of their IT infrastructure to ensure continuous delivery of critical business operations,” said Hans Bayaborda, country manager of Emerson Network Power in the Philippines.

“Emerson Network Power has an extensive portfolio of solutions, covering power protection, thermal management, infrastructure management, racks and enclosures, and services, to ensure that businesses are able to ensure the availability of their systems, while running lean and having the flexibility to cater to forecasted growth, all at the same time,” he said.

By 2016, the Philippines’ BPO industry “is expected to employ 1.3 million and generate as much as $26 billion in revenues,” said Bayaborda.

“Local players must rise to the challenge of future-proofing their respective support infrastructure to ensure that their businesses remain viable and can support the exponential increase of bandwidth in the next few years,” he added.

Emerson Network Power will be partnering with IBPAP to hold market events and refresher workshops exclusive to IBPAP members, all in the interest of promoting ideas on maintaining future-proof IT.

The first workshop was held in February and drew in over 30 participants from some of the country’s top BPO companies. Dates for forthcoming events will be announced later this year.

Emerson Network Power delivers software, hardware and services that maximize availability, capacity and efficiency for data centers, healthcare and industrial facilities.

A trusted industry leader in smart infrastructure technologies, it provides innovative data center infrastructure management solutions that bridge the gap between IT and facility management and deliver efficiency and uncompromised availability regardless of capacity demands.
