MANILA, Philippines - The Sarangani Energy Corp. (SEC), together with the Southern Philippines Power Corp. (SPPC) and the Conrado and Ladislawa Alcantara Foundation (CLAFI), has provided 27 Internet-ready desktop computers with complete accessories and licensed operating systems to three national high schools in General Santos City. SEC and SPPC are both part of the Alsons Power Group, which, together with CLAFI and other companies, comprise the Alcantara Group. The principals of the three schools, (from right) Ronnie Espregante of Bawing National High School, Efren Lemana of Lagao National High School and Angelito Llanos of General Santos City National High School, received the donation from SEC and Alsons Power vice president for project management Nicandro Fucoy (fifth from the left) and SPPC plant manager Bernardo Zamora (sixth from left). Others in photo are Joel Aton, SEC project assurance manager; Max Allawan, site administrator for the Kamanga Economic Zone; Don Magtulis, CLAFI executive director; and Oscar Benedict Contreras III, Alsons Power corporate communications manager. Apart from SEC and SPPC, Alsons Power also controls and operates the 100-megawatt Western Mindanao Power Corp. diesel plant in Zamboanga City and the 98-MW Mapalad Power Corp. diesel plant in Iligan City. Alsons Power is also developing the 105-MW San Ramon Power Inc. coal-fired plant in Talisayan, Zamboanga City to help provide a source of stable baseload power for Mindanao.
