Globe's ISG gets ISO certification

-

MANILA, Philippines - Globe has received and maintained an ISO 27001:2005 certification for its Information Systems Group (ISG), which has met the Information Security Management System (ISMS) standard.

Anglo Japanese American (AJA) Registrars Ltd., a certification body accredited by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service, awarded the certification to Globe’s ISG, which is the company’s information technology (IT) group.

Globe’s ISG is the first and only IT organization from a telecom company in the Philippines that has achieved an ISO 27001:2005 certification.

“Having maintained this for almost two years now, we continue to improve our systems and processes in Globe to be able to better serve our customers. In this age information is very critical and as we apply international standards in protecting such valuable company assets, our customers are given assurance that we are able to minimize if not eliminate information security risks,” said Greg Romero, chief information officer of Globe.

He added: “The ISO 27001:2005 certification of Globe’s ISG demonstrates our commitment to uphold information security in line with Globe’s thrust to deliver superior customer experience.”

The ISO 27001:2005 is an ISMS standard designed to ensure the selection of adequate and proportionate security control that will help manage and protect valuable and critical information assets.

Having this certification means that Globe’s ISG continuously designs, implements, maintains, and improves a coherent suite of processes and systems for the effective management of information accessibility.

It also includes ensuring the confidentiality, integrity and availability of information assets, as well as the reduction of information security risks.
