Exinda awarded $1.1-M Malaysian contract

-

Exinda Networks in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia announced a contract award from the Government Integrated Telecom Network (GITN) worth more than RM3.8 million ($1.1 million).

The contract award, the largest ever for Exinda, is part of the Malaysian government’s bandwidth management project that involves deploying Exinda wide area network (WAN) optimization appliances at more than 700 networked government sites over the next two years.

The GITN is pursuing the bandwidth management project to provide quick, efficient and reliable services to Malaysians.

Exinda Networks’ WAN optimization appliances will ensure that network applications are responding quickly to the end-users’ requests.

The appliances classify, prioritize and compress network traffic while controlling non-essential traffic such as recreational Web applications.  WAN optimization will help GITN reduce network operating costs by maximizing its network investment.

The GITN selected Exinda Networks as its WAN optimization vendor because Exinda’s products are easy to use and provide effective network traffic management at an affordable price.

The GITN is the official network service provider for the Malaysian government. It manages the network that supports the government and its rapidly growing economy.

Ariantec is an Exinda product distributor working with reseller Niagara Technologies on the GITN’s bandwidth management initiative.

“The GITN’s bandwidth management project is one of the industry’s largest WAN optimization deployments,” said Con Nikolouzakis, chief executive office of Exinda Networks.

“The contract award reflects Exinda’s ability to deliver technology and service on a broad scale. We will provide excellent customer service and technical support to accomplish the project goals,” he added.

Software upgrades for a select number of Exinda x700 appliances will enable the GITN to accelerate mission-critical applications on the optimized network.

The GITN will also use Service Delivery Point (SDP), an Exinda Web-hosted software-as-a-service for centrally managing all the appliances deployed throughout the network via a Web browser.

SDP will simplify the installation and maintenance of these devices to achieve optimal application performance.

“The bandwidth management project is a very important initiative for the GITN,” a GITN spokesman said.

“We have been thorough in our research and evaluation of WAN optimization vendors and partners. We feel confident in our selection because Exinda provides a comprehensive solution that’s easy to use and affordable — important considerations for a project of this scope,” the spokesman added.
