Filipino invention set to receive global recognition

A Filipino invention in the field of construction is set to gain international recognition for its worldclass quality and global significance.

The invention, called Nutec lighting system, saves 50 percent on power consumption, extends the life of busted lamps up to three years, and prolong the life of new lamps by five to seven years.

Nutec was developed by New World Technology, headed by president Eric Ngo. He will receive the "Product of the Year Award" before a big international audience at the "Business Night" of Worldbex 2000 at the Manila Hotel.

Worldbex 2000 is the country's global construction super-expo, which will gather the latest construction products and services of more than 20 countries at the World Trade Center Metro Manila on March 15-19.

This annual event is organized by Worldbex Services International (WSI), which will launch the Product of the Year Award by conferring its first on Ngo before the eyes of the world as represented by the leaders of the global construction industry.

WSI founding chairman Joseph Ang said the award was created to encourage Filipinos to come up with world-class products that could boost the growth of the construction sector locally and internationally.

Ang said Vice Presisdent and Social Welfare Secretary Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo would lead the world's construction leaders in conferring the award on Ngo for the innovativeness and global impact of his product.

Ngo will receive a plaque and a cash prize as incentive, including technical and professional assistance from Worldbex in marketing Nutec globally, according to WSI executive director Francisco Flameno.

Nutec will also be displayed by one year at the Multi-Rich Home Decors Showroom on Boni Avenue, Mandaluyong City.

This high-tech innovation is among the numerous others that will be exhibited at Worldbex 2000 by their respective countries.

The visitors who will be picked by a screening committee shall each receive the Worldbex Privilege Card, a unique "Builder's Card' that gives discounts of up to 20 percent from selected exhibitors. Cardholders will also receive up to 50 percent discount from Worldbex-participating hotels and up to 30 percent from material manufacturers or suppleirs.

The cardholder shall also gain lifetime recognition as Worldbex supporter, entitling him to free entrance and invitation to any of its events or functions.

The card also entitles him to automatic listing in Worldbex directories, inclusion in its publications and participation in any of its sponsored international or local competitions.

Co-organized by the Philippine Institute of Interior Designers (PIID) and the Filipino Professional Architects and supported by the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines, the US Commercial Service and the various sectors of the local construction industry, Worldbex 2000 is sponsored by Wilsonart Laminates, Multi-Rich Home Decors Inc., Automation and Security Inc., National Bookstore, Hungfu Dimsum House, Puriflex, Europe Solid Surface, the Brain Computer Corp., Kopino Corporation, Ariston and Orient Pearl Seafood and Restaurant.

Last year more than 20 countries joined Worldbex. These were Australia, Argentina, Belgium, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Denmark, Hong Kong, Iran, Israel, Italy, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, Turkey, Thailand, the United States and the Philippines.
