The Philippine Dermatological Society (PDS), in cooperation with the Department of Health (DOH), officially leads the nationwide commemoration of the 7th National Skin Disease Detection and Prevention Week (Skinweek) until Nov. 18.
The commemoration with the theme Balat Alagaan Laban sa Sakit will promote the PDS goal of raising awareness of proper skin care among Filipinos through activities that emphasize the importance of the skin in overall health.
Free dermatology clinics will be held in various barangay health centers, parishes, schools and city halls in key cities throughout the country, with PDS members giving free consultations and free medicines.
Through a series of lectures on basic care for healthy skin, hair and nails, trained dermatologists will also provide essential information on basic hygiene and skin self-examination and the need to seek early care and management of skin diseases.
Full schedule of Skinweek free clinics can be found at the PDS website at www.pds.org.ph or call the Philippine Dermatological Society at 723-0101 local 2015 or 727-7309.
