Primavera Residences 1st in East Asia certified by IFC for design efficiency

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Primavera Residences, a revolutionary mixed-use condominium project of  Italpinas Development Corporation (IDC) in Cagayan de Oro City, is now the first completed condominium building in East Asia certified by the International Finance Corp. (IFC) under its EDGE (Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies) program.

Autif Sayyed, the regional green building specialist for the East Asia Pacific region at IFC of the World Bank Group, recognized the building’s outstanding initiation and implementation of the green features, an indication that Primavera Residences will eventually become the first completed residential building in East Asia as certified by IFC’s EDGE program

The 10-story, twin-tower, mixed-use development (commercial, offices, residences) is the first project designed and developed by IDC, formerly Italpinas Euroasian Design and Eco-Development Corp.  (ITPI Corp.), an Italian-Filipino company that designs and develops sustainable property developments all over the Philippines.

The project, located in Cagayan de Oro City, started construction in 2010 and was completed in September 2012. Construction on Tower B (with 167 residential and commercial units) is currently ongoing and is set to finish this month.

The first eco-friendly condo complex developed in Mindanao, it features the best principles of passive cooling technology: shadow and sunlight control, wind cooling and shape performance.

These features, combined with renewable energy that will be produced from solar panels found on the roof deck of the towers, will help reduce the overall energy consumption of the buildings — bringing long-term savings to its residents and making Primavera Residences even more desirable as an investment.

An innovation of IFC, EDGE helps property developers build and brand their properties “green” in a fast, easy and affordable way. EDGE is supported by a software that encourages solutions to reduce energy, water and the energy used to make building materials by at least 20 percent, which is the standard for EDGE certification. The program has been generously supported by the following donors: Austria, Canada, Denmark, ESMAP, EU, Finland, GEF, Japan and Switzerland.
