Shining examples of excellence

BUSINESS CHIC - Johnny Litton - The Philippine Star

Three coffee table books celebrating a legacy of excellence were launched by the Metrobank Foundation at the main lobby of the Cultural Center of the Philippines recently. The “MADE of Gold” featuring more than 150 winning artworks in the painting and sculpture competitions of Metrobank Art and Design Excellence (MADE) in full color; the “10 Outstanding Filipino Teachers Vol. 2,” containing the profiles of the awardees of Metrobank Foundation’s search for outstanding educators; and the “Metrobank Foundation Exemplars,” narrating 15 inspiring stories of people considered heroes in nation-building: teachers, artists, police officers, soldiers, and journalists. Metrobank Foundation president Chito Sobrepeña said the books are a way to share stories of triumphs and dreams fulfilled by the exceptional individuals the foundation has honored in the past. Retired Chief Justice and Metrobank Foundation board of advisers chairman Artemio Panganiban was the guest of honor of the book launch that was part of Metrobank’s 50-year celebration. Thank you, Metrobank Foundation— especially to vice chairman Arthur Ty and trustee Alfred Ty—for your inspiring programs and for honoring the people who served as inspiration!

Outstanding man of finance

Low-key numbers man Jeffrey Lim of SM Prime Holdings Inc. has been awarded the “ING-FINEX CFO of the Year 2012.”  The annual search conducted by ING Bank N.V. (Manila) and the Financial Executives Institute of the Philippines (FINEX) for the country’s outstanding decision maker in financial management is made more prestigious as it is given by one’s peers in the industry. Jeffrey received his trophy, a Ramon Orlina glass sculpture, for his excellent stewardship of SM Prime Holdings Inc., the largest mall developer and operator in the country.  The awarding ceremonies held at the Rigodon Ballroom of The Peninsula Manila had previous CFO of the Year awardees and SM founder Henry Sy Sr. with his children among the guests.  Congratulations to Mr. Jeffrey Lim and more power to FINEX!
