DTI online system boosts permit processing by 9%

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) saw a nine percent increase in permits processed online from January to September compared to the same period last year, following the nationwide rollout of its online registration system.
In a statement, the DTI reported that it processed 39,997 permits and licenses through the Integrated Registration Information System (IRegIS) from January to September, representing a nine percent increase from the same period last year.
“With the IRegIS now fully rolled out nationwide, consumers and businesses can complete regulatory transactions faster and with fewer steps,” the DTI said.
The IRegIS was created as part of efforts to streamline permit processing and promote ease of doing business.
Services available on IRegIS include permits for sales promotions, import applications and for service and repair enterprises.
The DTI said it is stepping up efforts to protect consumers and keep businesses compliant through digital services and stronger market enforcement.
These actions align with President Marcos’ directive to enhance government services and promote a fair market.
As part of its efforts to promote consumer protection, the DTI-Fair Trade Enforcement Bureau has also resolved 33,725 consumer complaints, with a zero backlog, during the nine-month period.
Through the Consumer Complaints Assistance and Resolution System or the DTI’s online portal for filing and tracking complaints, the agency is helping consumers achieve faster resolution of complaints.
As e-commerce continues to grow, the DTI said it has screened 204,255 online product links to protect the public from harmful and misleading products.
It said takedown requests also rose by 43 percent in the nine months since last year, covering P378.2 billion worth of listings.
The DTI also confiscated 541,235 non-conforming products, valued at P130.8 million as of end-September.
While the value of confiscated goods decreased by 62 percent from the previous year, the DTI reports stronger adherence by industries and retailers to fair trade standards.
From January to October, the DTI also strengthened market visibility through 7,558 monitoring activities, representing a 31-percent increase from the same period in 2024.
“These efforts lay the foundation for sustained excellence. The DTI aims not only to maintain these gains but to surpass them in the coming years. This is our pledge,” DTI Fair Trade Group said.
