Ayala partners with IKEA

MANILA, Philippines — Ayala Group is entering into a partnership with Swedish home furnishing giant IKEA.
While details of the partnership have yet to be disclosed, the two companies are said to be “teaming up to bring something exciting to the north.”
Ayala Malls operates Vertis North as well as TriNoma in Quezon City.
IKEA’s foray in the Philippines was in partnership with the SM Group of the Sy family.
IKEA opened its first store in the country in 2021 at the Mall of Asia Complex in Pasay City.
There has been talks that a second IKEA store will rise in SM Megamall.
However, SM Supermalls president Steven Tan told The STAR last month that nothing has been finalized yet, noting that IKEA is still looking at two to three sites.
Ayala, for its part, has been aggressively bolstering its retail business. It recently announced the addition of premium fresh food supermarket chain Spinneys to its growing portfolio.
It has also entered into a partnership with Thailand’s CP AXTRA to bring back Makro stores in the Philippines.
Ayala earlier entered into collaborations with Kmart Australia Ltd. to bring home and lifestyle brand Anko and with BYD to bring the world’s leading EV brand to the Philippines.
Part of Ayala’s strategy is to work with world-class companies to expand consumer choices, raise retail standards and help Filipinos thrive.
