Honda Philippines eyes growth in marine business

MANILA, Philippines — Honda Philippines Inc. (HPI) is aiming to grow its marine business as it sees opportunities to cater to the government and even private users.
Speaking at the launch of the BF350, the flagship outboard engine in Honda’s marine lineup, HPI president Sayaka Arai said the firm intends to launch more engine models, as well as strengthen sales and after-sales services to expand its marine business in the country.
While the marine business has a small contribution to HPI’s overall operations in the Philippines, she said the company sees potential to grow this segment.
“We are seeing the very big potential in the Philippines for the outboard because the Philippines is an island country,” she said.
She said HPI can cater to places like Boracay and Palawan by providing the outboard motor to be used for inter-island transport.
For the BF350, HPI and outboard engine distributor Propmech Corp. are targeting the government, as well as private users and resort owners as customers.
Arai said they’re looking to sell around 100 units of the BF350 this year.
The BF350 is Honda’s most advanced outboard motor, featuring a V8 engine designed for longer and smoother journeys.
Propmech Corp. president Glenn Tong said the BF350, which is priced at P2 million to P2.5 million, embodies the companies’ commitment to power, efficiency and innovation.
“Honda and Propmech have built a strong partnership to deliver reliable marine solutions to the Philippine market. The BF350 provides advanced marine technology suited for the country’s waters and climate, ensuring performance and value for vessel owners,” he said.
