MANILA, Philippines — Villar-owned Premiere Island Power REIT Corp. (PREIT), a real estate investment trust, saw its share price rise in its market debut last Thursday.

PREIT shares closed at P1.60 per share, up by 6.67 percent, from its offer price of P1.50 per share. Sources in the investment community said the deal was fully subscribed.

Envisioned to be the power and infrastructure REIT platform of Prime Asset Ventures Inc., PREIT’s initial portfolio includes land and power plant assets that are used by its sponsors, S.I. Power Corp. and Camotes Island Power Generation Corp. in their operations.

The company is also eyeing to expand its assets to include solar farms that are located in various provinces in Luzon.

PSE president and CEO Ramon Monzon welcomed the latest addition to the local bourse’s roster.

“With the stock market debut of PREIT, we hope that more energy-themed REITs, especially those based in the provinces will also consider listing their shares in the stock market,” Monzon said.

PREIT offered 1.4 billion firm shares and up to 210 million over-allotment option shares which were sold by SIPCOR and CAMPCOR, plus up to 210 million common shares as part of the over-allotment option.

Proceeds from PREIT’s offer  will go to the selling shareholders and are mandated to be reinvested in the Philippines, pursuant to the Revised Implementing Rules and Regulations of Republic Act 9856, otherwise known as the Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT)  Act of 2009.
