MANILA, Philippines — Jollibee Foods Corp. has taken a bigger bite of the Scotland market with the opening of its first store in Glasgow, just a few weeks after its debut in Edinburgh.

This marks the 14th store in Europe, following a large-scale European expansion plan to grow to 50 outlets in five years as it targets to be among the top five restaurant companies in the world.

The store is located in Sauchiehall Street, one of the capital’s most iconic streets and an area with significant student presence and high foot traffic.

Adam Parkinson, business head of Jollibee Europe, said the company is excited to open in Glasgow, its second store in Scotland and its 11th in the United Kingdom. He said Glasgow is a hotspot for foodies.

“Seeing the enthusiasm of Glaswegians queuing outside in anticipation of the store opening is amazing, and we hope to introduce more people to the delicious flavors and diverse food we have to offer,” he said.

Last month, Jollibee opened on Princes Street in Edinburgh, the restaurant chain’s first venture in Scotland.

The Glasgow store offers Chickenjoy, Jollibee Chicken Sandwich and other brand offerings such as Jolly Spaghetti and Yumburger. Chickenjoy and Jollibee Chicken Sandwich have spicy versions on the menu, Parkinson said.

Like the Edinburgh store, the Glasgow restaurant will also serve halal meat.
