MANILA, Philippines — LinkedIn, the world’s largest professional network, gave digital financial services leader PayMaya its prestigious Best Talent Acquisition Team Award at the recently held LinkedIn Talent Awards Philippines.

The company won the award for its “10X talent” strategy that has enabled it to achieve its accelerated growth as the leading fintech company in the Philippines. PayMaya is the only end-to-end digital financial services company in the country with a widely used consumer e-wallet app, the most extensive on-ground agent network via Smart Padala, and the largest non-bank enterprise payments processing business.

“10X talent” is a term used by best-selling authors Michael Solomon and Rishon Blumberg in their book “Gamechangers” and refers to highly skilled, transformative, and agile talents that companies need to achieve massive growth.

PayMaya has employed a 10X talent strategy that combines data-driven global recruitment via LinkedIn Talent Solutions and a high engagement employee referral platform called People Connect.

The program complements a next-generation Tech Cadetship and Entrepreneurship-in-Residence program for top technology and business graduates.

“Our biggest asset is our multi-cultural set of people. We are honored and humbled to be recognized by LinkedIn as the leader in our talent recruitment and engagement efforts. This recognition, especially during a time where the majority of our team is working remotely, is a testament to PayMaya’s spirit of innovation,” said Carla Lanza, PayMaya’s chief people officer.

The LinkedIn Talent Awards program is an annual global event that recognizes companies adopting, innovating, and moving the talent community forward into the new world of work. The awards body recognizes successful organizations that have made a significant impact using LinkedIn Talent Solutions.

Engaging top talent through data-driven recruitment

Using a data-driven approach and combining it with a highly engaging program, PayMaya’s people initiatives have been instrumental in its high-growth phase as it accelerates digital payments adoption and financial inclusion in the Philippines.

The company has been attracting global talents, including high performers in fields such as engineering, science, marketing, finance, and information security. It is one of the companies in the Philippines with the highest concentrations of professionals with degrees in engineering and sciences. The company has also fostered innovation with its highly diverse and multi-cultural team.

PayMaya’s workforce is highly engaged, with its employee referral program contributing to more than a third of its hires for 2021. Its Tech Cadetship and Entrepreneur-in-Residence programs attract top graduates with a holistic experience to create next-generation leaders, innovators, and business experts in the digital and fintech space.

Earlier this year, LinkedIn cited PayMaya for its trailblazing efforts to create a future-ready workplace amid the challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic. The company served as a success story for utilizing various digital tools and programs to increase employee engagement, accelerate business growth, promote continuous learning, and recruit top talent.

Through the technologies created by this world-class talent pool, PayMaya has led the way for digital payments adoption with its platforms and services that cut across consumers, merchants, communities, and government.

It provides more than 41 million Filipinos access to financial services through its consumer platforms. Customers can conveniently pay, Cash In, and remit through its over 380,000 digital touchpoints nationwide. Its Smart Padala by PayMaya network of over 60,000 partner agent touchpoints serves as last-mile digital financial hubs in communities, providing the unbanked and underserved access to digital services. Through its enterprise business, it is the largest digital payments processor for key industries in the country, including “every day” merchants such as the largest retail, food, gas, and eCommerce merchants, as well as government agencies and units.

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas recently granted Maya Bank a Digital Bank license, one of only six issued by the regulator for the new bank category.
