MANILA, Philippines — As quarantine restrictions continue to put pressure on the bottom line of the wellness industry, an upstart massage brand has taken on the challenge by focusing on a new market and adapting to the “new normal” environment.

MassageMNL, which started in October 2019, is now the first to offer a specialized home service, including pre-natal and lymphatic drainage massage.

Its founder, Janine Khazaie, said the pandemic provided them an opportunity to cater to a new market – those feeling stressed from working at home, those who just want to keep fit, and pregnant women and their husbands who are part of the pandemic baby boom.

The MassageMNL team offers signature massages, foot spa, hand spa, hand paraffin, facial, manicure and pedicure – all at the comfort of clients’ homes.

The massage bar also has a special set-up to feel like an actual spa. The company staff are all fully vaccinated, tested prior to massage bar booking, tested weekly and closely monitored at their staff house.

From Metro Manila, MassageMNL has expanded to nearby provinces, offering pre-natal, post-natal, lactation, lymphatic drainage, sports, myofascial, signature, baby, kiddie massage. They also offer premium massages like Swedish, combination, foot reflexology, deep tissue, ventosa and hot stone.

Khazaie said compared to 2020, this year has been seeing changes and shift in consumer behavior. As the quarantines ease up, more and more people are open to getting a massage at home.

Thus, she said MassageMNL’s finances are slowly picking up as the crowd adapt to the new normal, with bookings and revenue more than doubling from last year.

Khazaie said the company would continue to adapt to the times and lead the industry with progressive massage services with utmost quality, possible servicing the whole Philippines and other countries as well in the near future.
