Danish kitchen firm sets up shop in Philippines

MANILA, Philippines — Danish designer kitchen firm KVIK has set up shop in the Philippines with the aim of tapping the country’s sophisticated consumer market.

Located in SM Megamall, the KVIK store which features the firm’s kitchen showcases, as well as selection of bathroom furniture and bedroom closets, opened last Sept. 18.

“We foresee that the sophisticated Filipino market will appreciate KVIK’s design concept of clean simple lines, use of natural products and providing a kitchen that really serves the whole family,” KVIK retail manager Thorkild Madsen said.

For his part, Danish Ambassador to the Philippines Jan Top Christensen said the entry of KVIK in the Philippines would help promote closer ties between the two countries.

“The opening of the first KVIK store  in the Philippines is an affirmation of the vast potential for expanding cooperation and trade between Denmark and the Philippines,” he said.

KVIK, which is based in Herning in Denmark, has been in involved in producing high quality kitchen, bedroom and  bathroom furniture for more than 30 years.

It is committed to providing Danish-design kitchens, bathrooms and wardrobes at low prices.

At present, it produces 1,000 kitchens per week at its factory in Denmark.

As the firm operates warehouses in Thailand and the Philippines, lead times for bringing products are only four to six weeks compared to the 16 to 20 weeks of other imported brands.

KVIK also has stores in Belgium, France, Finland, Norway, Spain, Sweden, the Netherlands, Thailand, and Hong Kong.
