DOLE steps up jobs campaign
MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) yesterday vowed to step up efforts to curb the country’s high unemployment in the last months of the Aquino administration.
Labor Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz said the DOLE is elated with the continuing decline in the number of unemployed, but said there is still much to be done.
Baldoz said the positive results of the October Labor Force Survey showed that the DOLE programs contributed to the national goal of employment generation and poverty reduction.
Based on the survey, there was a marked improvement in quality employment as shown by the increase in the number of persons working full time.
“Another indicator of decent work gains is the number of wage and salary workers. In this survey, the number of wage and salary workers reached 23.127 million, 573,000 higher than the 22.554 million recorded in the 2014 October LFS,” Baldoz noted.
