Landbank to help in tax collection

Donnabelle L. Gatdula - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - To support the government’s aggressive campaign towards improved tax collection, state-run Land Bank of the Philippines has launched express access machines designed as an alternative payment channel for taxpayers.

Landbank president and CEO Gilda Pico said the Landbank Express Access Machine (LEAM) also has future capability to accept PhilHealth contributions and other bill payments.

“This project is in support of the government’s continuing goal to improve revenue collection and service delivery to the general public,” she said.

Pico said LEAMs will provide the public with an expedient means of paying their tax dues.

“The deployment of LEAMs is also expected to help manage customer traffic in Landbank branches,” she said.

She said the first batch of 50 LEAMs will be deployed this month in selected branches nationwide.

Around 18 LEAM units will be deployed in NCR, eight in Northern Luzon, two in Central Luzon, eight in Southern Luzon, four in the Visayas, and 10 in Mindanao.

Pico said about 20 more LEAMs will be deployed within the year.

Landbank is currently in 80 provinces around the country with a nationwide network of 344 branches and 1,256 ATMs.

It also plays a significant role in major government programs such as the Conditional Cash Transfer, the Food Supply Chain Program, and the OFW Reintegration Program.
