Bangkok expo sets up renewable energy clinic

- Rhodina Villanueva - The Philippine Star

BANGKOK, Thailand — A new business segment that facilitates renewable energy and energy efficiency developments in Thailand, was introduced at the ongoing Clean Energy Expo Asia being held at Centara Grand and Bangkok Convention Center at CentralWorld, Bangkok.

Michael Dreyer, vice president, Asia Pacific, Koelnmesse - the event organizer, said that for the first time, a “renewable clinic” has been set up in the venue to attend to the needs of delegates to consult with the experts of their choice.

“Throughout the duration of the event, delegates who are embarking on new clean energy and energy efficiency projects in the country can book a 15-minute meeting slot with an expert on clean energy technology,” Dreyer said.

He noted that over 20 renewable energy experts are available on-site to provide expert advice on project management, visualization, planning, due diligence, resource assessment, as well as feasibility studies and post-planning considerations to keen project developers.

“Several of the participants have pre-registered and that they know what to expect and who are coming. Even before arriving at the venue, they already have in mind a resource person or expert that can help them with their projects on renewable energy. They afterwards decide if they pursue these projects in Thailand or in any area outside of the country,” Dreyer said in an interview.

He added the presence of the “renewable clinic” meant taking a step further or advancing the discussion on clean energy solutions.

Dreyer likewise said the Clean Energy Expo Asia continues with its successful “business matching” program this year.

Regional buyers such as Bangkok Solar (Thailand), Du Pont Apollo Limited (Hong Kong), Kyi Thant Trading and Mining Co Ltd (Myanmar), and Moser Baer Project (India) and several others are on-site to meet with potential business partners. In addition, industry delegations from countries such as Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar and Singapore, will engage in meetings to discuss the advancement of clean energy in the region.

“Investments in clean energy have been growing steadily in the region over the years. As Asia’s energy demand persists, there is an urgent need for the industry to take active steps to accelerate the progress of clean energy innovation to ensure its place as a viable alternative energy source. At the same time, governments need to look into sustainable policies that will integrate renewable energy into its infrastructure,” said Dreyer.

He added: “Clean Energy Expo Asia, with its mix of business leaders, financiers and policymakers, continues to provide a strong platform for industry updates and knowledge to enhance sustainable energy adoption in the region. We are certain that participants this year will go home with renewed insights and confidence to take their sustainable vision forward.”

Close to 100 leading players from around the world in the areas of renewable energy, energy efficiency and sustainable development are participating in this year’s Clean Energy Expo Asia.
