- Donnabelle L. Gatdula - The Philippine Star

Manila, Philippines -  Rang-ay Bank, the leading countryside financial institution in the north, recently opened its 23rd branch in Luna Sports Center, La Union.

Ives Nisce, Rang-ay president and CEO, said the opening of Luna Branch is already the third branch opened by Rang-ay Bank during the year.

Rang-ay Bank is planning to open another branch in Dingras, Ilocos Norte on Aug. 28, 2012.

Nisce said they are proud that Rang-ay Bank, a home-grown bank, with its head office in San Fernando City, La Union, has slowly expanding its network.

According to Nisce, the bank now has 23 branches spread in six provinces of the north: Ilocos Sur, Ilocos Norte, La Union, Pangasinan, Abra and Benguet.

Mayor Victor Marron welcomed the opening of the branch which signals an improved economic activity in the municipality.

“It provides easy and affordable access to credit for the local farmers and entrepreneurs and likewise offers a safe place for depositors to save,” the city official said.

The opening of this banking office, Marron said, will surely bring banking services to the doorstep of the townspeople of this interior town of La Union, which boasts of a unique beach composed of its renowned Luna stones.

This pilgrimage town hosts the shrine of the miraculous “Lady of Namacpacan”.

As it is the only bank serving the Municipality of Luna, La Union, Nisce said this is Rang-ay Bank’s concrete contribution to the advocacy of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas for financial inclusion, making available a wide range of financial services to the unbanked sectors of our society.
