Best practices for school registrars

MANILA, Philippines - One of the most important department in an educational institution is the registrar’s office but it could also be the weakest link in the entire school system. To address this, the Center for Global Best Practices (www.cgbp.org) is launching a one-and-a-half day seminar entitled, “Best Practices for School Registrars: From GOOD to GREAT!,” to be held on Aug. 23 and 24 at the Peninsula Hotel, Makati City. 

The special program will help school registrars, school administrators and owners how to design a fully functioning and working registrars office.

The registrars of the Asian Institute of Management, De La Salle University, and Ateneo de Manila University will share their experiences, valuable insights, and proven ways on how they have succeeded in improving their school system. 

The lecture will include topics such as best practices in enrolment procedures, enlistment in subjects, curriculum development, records and data management as well as best IT design and practices, degree audit evaluation, student recruitment and admission, alumni relations, academic ombudsmanship, and other services that would definitely give registrars, school management, and school owners a boost and wealth of information.

The event will feature the registrars from the three prestigious schools in the country, Joaquin Julian Agtarap, Ph.D. of Ateneo de Manila University who presently heads an office of 25 associates and 200 registration committee; Rey R. Reyes, the registrar and executive managing director for student service of the Asian Institute of Management, and Edwin Santiago, the associate vice chancellor for academic services and university registrar of the De La Salle University. He also serves as the chief operating officer on matters relating to student records management, and supervises several offices in the university that concerns student admissions, institutional evaluation, and student assistance.
