Best practices in HR policies and contracts

- The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Center for Global Best Practices (CGBP) will be holding a special MCLE-accredited seminar titled “Best Practices in Crafting HR Policies & Contracts” at the EDSA Shangri-La Hotel in Mandaluyong City, on June 28-29, 2012.

As has often been said, people are the lifeblood of an organization. However, many companies, whether big or small, experience HR problems that often arise from ambiguities or defects in the contracts they have with their personnel. Business owners are especially vulnerable to such issues as, being caught up in the whirl of growing their business, they are either unable to focus on labor matters or are unaware of the various issues regarding HR policies and contracts. Companies would also save costs on legal fees and the like, as well as avoid unnecessary friction or restiveness among its personnel, if it ensured that its HR policies and contracts were sound and aligned with existing and updated Philippine labor laws.

This two-day solutions-oriented program is a definitive guide aimed at helping business owners, HR practitioners, decision-makers, lawyers, even laymen craft a working HR policy, code of discipline and employment contract. Other best practices to be discussed include those relating to independent labor contracting and outsourcing; union and CBA issues; and updates on the latest Supreme Court rulings (particularly significant decisions on dismissal cases and disciplinary actions). Moreover, there will be lectures on contract provisions and special contract clauses for rank-and-file and high-level positions; formulating memos of agreement; special templates that will simplify the creation of HR contracts; how to enforce HR policies the right way; the proper method of terminating employment; and other secrets of labor lawyers that HR practitioners need to know, as well as tips and avoiding pitfalls in handling personnel. These are some of the topics that are not normally discussed in other HR and labor law seminars. For more details, check www.cgbp.org or call Manila lines at (02) 842-7148/59; 556-8968/69, Cebu lines at (032) 512-3106 to 07 and Baguio at (074) 423-5148. This unique program is accredited by the Supreme Court. Lawyers attending will get MCLE credits.
