IT executives fast adopting cloud computing solutions

-

MANILA, Philippines - Global Gateway Innovation Exchange (G2iX), the pioneer in SaaS and Open Source in the Philippines, recently concluded a series of CIO forums around the theme “Trends in Strategic IT Solutions in a Tough Economy.”

G2iX is a technology innovation leader deploying solutions for global start-ups, independent software vendors and Fortune 500 companies since 2001. G2iX offers end-to-end enterprise software and interactive media development, software engineering automation, and a state-of-the-art cloud platform.

“Cost savings, reduced time to market, and rapid ROI — these are three key factors that IT and business executives alike cite when asked about the value of cloud computing,” said Winston Damarillo, chief executive officer of G2iX, in reference to the results of the CIO forums.

Cloud computing — a technology that “enables on-demand utilization of a shared, infinite amount of compute resources or computing power via the Internet” — is fast becoming mainstream in the Philippines. Morph Labs, a division of G2iX, pioneered Software as a Service and Platform as a Service in the country and continues to introduce new products to its line of cloud infrastructure solutions.

Just last month in Geneva, Switzerland, Morph Labs launched the Morph CloudServer which offers businesses a more effective way to safely pilot new ideas, facilitate global expansion, and significantly decrease time to market.

Following industry-leading standards established by Amazon’s Elastic Compute Cloud and Eucaly ptus, the Morph CloudServer offers unprecedented flexibility, control and agility for developing and deploying software on a massive scale.

This effort was recognized by no less than Secretary Ray Anthony Roxas-Chua of the Commission on Information and Communications Technology (CICT).

“Cloud computing technology, such as the Filipino co-developed Morph Cloud Server, provides emerging countries with affordable access to world-class ICT infrastructure,” Chua said.

Damarillo further emphasizes: “infrastructure is generally underutilized. The enterprise ecosystem in the Philippines, particularly the telecommunications sector, can bank on cloud computing and Software as a Service (SaaS) to significantly reduce time, costs, as well as headaches and deliver innovations within their organization.”

G2iX plans to hold more CIO forums in 2010 to further discover trends and share best practices among the country’s top innovators.
