GSIS: Ex-Ombudsman Chief Gutierrez ‘di kuwalipikadong umupo sa Board

MANILA, Philippines — Hindi umano kuwalipikadong umupo bilang trustee ng Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) si dating Ombudsman Merceditas Gutierrez dahil hindi ito miyembro ng government insurer noong siya ay i-appoint noong Abril 2023.

Sa isang sulat kay ­Executive Secretary at da­ting Supreme Court Chief Justice Lucas Bersamin na may petsang Abril 11, 2024, ipinaalam ni GSIS President at General ­Manager Jose Arnulfo Veloso ang resulta ng pagsusuring ginawa ng GSIS na nag-ugat sa isang reklamo laban kay Gutierrez.

Ayon kay Veloso ang reklamo ay ipinadala sa pamamagitan ng isang anonymous email. Sinabi rito na ang appointment ni Gutierrez ay hindi sumunod sa mandatory qualifications na nakasaad sa GSIS Charter (RA No. 8291) ng italaga ito sa GSIS Board.

“I respectfully submit to you the findings of the Go­vernment Service In­surance System (the ‘GSIS’) ni relation to a whistleblowing complaint, which claimed that Trustee Ma. Merceditas Gutierrez failed to posses the mandatory qualifications required by the GSIS Cha­rter (RA No. 8291) when she was appointed to the GSIS Board,” sabi ni Veloso.

Si Gutierrez ay mi­yembro ng GSIS Board na kumakatawan sa legal profession.
