P15-M civil case isinampa vs. ex-President Arroyo

MANILA, Philippines - Sinampahan ng P15-million civil case sa Quezon City-Regional Trial Court ng 6 sa tinaguriang “Morong 43” ang ilang mga government at military officials, kabilang ang dating pangulo at ngayon ay Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.

Ang kaso ay kaugnay sa ginawang paghuli sa kanila ng militar at mahigit 10 buwang pagkakakulong matapos na mapaghinalaang miyembro at taga-suporta ng New People’s Army (NPA).

Humingi ng danyos ang mga complainants na sina Dr. Merry Mia-Clamor, Dr. Alexis Montes, Nurse Gary Liberal, registered midwife Ma. Teresa Quinawayan, Reynaldo Macabenta at Mercy Castro, nais nilang panagutin ang mga respondents sa pangunguna ng dating pangulo sa dinanas nilang physical at psychological torture at mga paglabag sa kanilang karapatang pantao.

Bukod kay Rep. Arroyo, kabilang sa kinasuhan sa korte ay sina dating National Security Adviser Norberto Gonzales; dating Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief of staff Gen. Victor Ibrado; Gen. Delfin Bangit; da­ting commander ng 2nd Infantry Division (ID) Gen. Jorge Segovia; commander ng intelligence unit ng 2nd ID ng Philippine Army Lt. Col. Victorino Zaragosa; 2nd IDPA Maj. Manuel Tabion; commander ng 202nd Infantry Batallion (IB) Col. Aurelio Baladad; 16th IBPA commander Lt. Col. Jaime Abawag; commanding officer ng Rizal Provincial Public Safety Management Company P/Supt. Marion Balolong; at chief ng Intelligence Branch ng Rizal Provincial Police P/Supt. Allan Nubleza.

Aniya, niilabag umano ng naturang mga opisyal ang Articles 27, 32 at 33 ng Civil Code.

 “We want to send a strong message that one cannot just get away with human rights violations. This is our contribution to efforts in making sure that human rights violators are made accountable for their actions,” ayon sa pahayag ng grupo.

Sa kasalukuyan, nanatili pa ring nakakulong sa Camp Bagong Diwa sa lungsod ng Taguig ang dalawang mi­yembro ng grupo na sina Rogelio Villarasis at Mario Delos Santos.
