FIGBA derby final unwraps

MANILA, Philippines — The FIGBA National Bakbakan 12-stag derby kicks off its three-day finals today with over 100 fights featuring a slew of aces from the country’s top breeders at Roligon Mega Cockpit in Baclaran.

Participants with scores of 4-to-6 points collide in the five-stag finale today while those with 6.5 points will clash on Thursday.

The grand finals will be held Saturday with 155 fights slated for the event’s seven pointers.

Sixty-two participants posted 7-0 (win-loss) cards thus far, including 2017 World Pitmasters nine-cock champion Jun Cuello, Charlie Ang, Rep. Patrick Antonio and Venancio Jingco (breeder of 2017 World Slasher Cup champion Frank Berin).

Other seven pointers are Rafael Jun Ortega of Palawan, Luis Alilin of Eastern Visayas, Ruel Estopia of Zamboanga Sur and Paul Bowie of the Marianas Islands.

Put up by the International Federation of Gamefowl Breeders Associations, the event drew 7,016 entries this year.

Backers of the event are Thunderbird The Winning Formula and B-MEG Integra Power Maxx along with Excellence Poultry and Livestock Specialists, LDI, Hagibis, Salto, Vitarich Titan, Vio-Plus, Pit Fighter and Mad Science.
