Adidas Runners to back running enthusiasts

Olmin Leyba - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Filipino running enthusiasts with a “run hard, play hard” mentality can now link up with like-minded persons in the country and around the world via adidas Runners.

Unveiled in the Philippines last Wednesday night at BGC, adidas Runners is a global running movement intended to energize, support and unite runners all around the world.

According to adidas Philippines Brand Communications and Sports Marketing manager Jen Dacasin, adidas Runners Manila (ARM) can connect with counterparts overseas while on a visit to “run, create and party together while they’re exploring the city.

“Each urban runner has a different goal. Some want to smash a personal best, some run to clear their mind and others do it to get fit,” said Dacasin, who joined adidas Philippines GM Adrien Semblat in welcoming the ARM runners.

“Whatever their reason, we know that runners are energized and motivated when they come together for the same passion and to get to feel like they’re part of something bigger. adidas Runners Manila is creating us a network like never before. We want to unite all kinds of runners to do what they love – run – while at the same time have a great time,” she added.

Adidas Runners intends to push participants to the next level with a run hard, play hard mentality. Members of all levels will enjoy personalized milestone plans, expert coaching and unique rewards to help them reach their personal goals and share experience with a new network of people.

To launch the event in the Phl, a run was held around BGC with Jules Aquino, Maureen Schrijvers and Ani de Leon Brown serving as captains followed by an after-party with DJ Patty Tiu providing the music.

“With AR Manila, we’re building a community that‘s united by our love for running,” said Brown, a noted triathlon coach who was the first Filipina to qualify and compete in the Ironman World Championships. “As captains, we’re here to push our runners to get better each week and have fun doing it.”
