Dizon beats Nakamori in Petron super karting

MANILA, Philippines - John Dizon repeated over Japanese ace Takaharu Nakamori as he ruled Race 3 of the Petron Karting Super Series at the Carmona Racetrack in Cavite recently.

It was the second straight triumph for Dizon of Edgesport Racing, who topped Race 2 in Palawan, bagging both the ROK overall and ROK Novice Blaze 100 crowns of the event sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines.

He completed the 20-lap race 3.974 seconds ahead of Mikey Jordan for the ROK overall title. Nakamori finished third overall. 

Dizon also turned back Jordan and Aeromed Racing Team’s Juan Diego Macapagal for the ROK Novice Blaze 100 plum.

Nakamori, of Apex Racing, took the ROK Expert Blaze 100 plum over Apex Racing teammate Jenn Tumambing while Ephraim Mandal emerged the ROK Veteran Blaze 100 champion with a victory over William Tan.

Jarred Kim of Empire-Red Bull Racing upstaged top favorite Eduardo Coseteng Jr. of Eagle Cement-Petron Racing Team by 0.457 second to top the X30 Jr. Petron Tri-Action with Keon Romoff of VS Racing team and Hong Kong national Kyle Wong finishing third and fourth, respectively.

VS Racing team’s Zach David emerged the Mini-ROK Petron XCS champion over teammate Joharry Suba and Edgesport Racing’s William Go while Vince Adrian Rojo prevailed over Paolo Ayo in the Formula KT division.

Meanwhile, local karters brace for Race 5-6 of Petron ROK Karting Super Series and the second round of the Asian Karting Open Championships which the country will be hosting on Aug. 26-27, also at the Carmona Racetrack,
