Rebisco-PSL comes up short vs Vietinbank, stays winless
MANILA, Philippines — Despite playing a better game this time, the Rebisco-PSL failed to notch their first win in the 2017 Asian Women's Club Championship.
The Filipino squad absorbed a 21-25, 25-17, 20-25, 14-25 defeat against Vietinbank at the Boris Alexandrov Sports Palace in Ust-Kamenogorsk, Kazakhstan on Friday.
After losing the first set, Rebisco rallied on the second set and limited their errors to two.
But Vietinbank regrouped in the next two sets and capitalized on Rebisco's poor block formation with off-the-block hits.
Three Rebisco players finished in double digits, with Jaja Santiago leading with 17 points.
Jovelyn Gonzaga and Aby Marano, who did not start in their first game against Japan, added 10 apiece.
Rebisco-PSL will cap the preliminary round on Saturday against the Tianjin Bohai Bank of China.
