The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – Action in the Ming Ramos-Carlton 2016 Youth Age Group Badminton Championship resumes in Imus, Cavite next week with another banner field expected to clash for top honors in various divisions at the Imus Drive and Smash Badminton Court, 5F Lotus Mall.

The three-day event firing off Feb. 19 serves as the second Ming Ramos-Carlton regionals aimed at providing young provincial, club and independent players to compete in their respective age categories.

“Through the years, the Ming Ramos Youth age-group badminton has immeasurably given budding badminton players the opportunity to play and compete alongside their age colleagues and has been successful in inspiring the youth to get into the sport,” said the former First Lady and president of the Philippine Badminton Association.

The tournament, to be hosted by Imus Mayor Emmanuel Maliksi, also the president of the Imus Badminton Federation, and backed by Asia Traders-Carlton, the official equipment sponsor, comes on the heels of a successful kick-off at the CSI Stadia in Dagupan last month.

The Ming Ramos-Carlton regionals are open to players, clubs and schools from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

Events on tap are the Under-13 boys’ and girls’ singles, U-15 boys’ and girls’ singles and doubles, U-17 boys’ and girls’ singles and doubles and U-19 boys’ and girls’ singles, doubles and mixed doubles.

Registration is ongoing with fee pegged at P350 for the first entry and additional P150 for the second entry. For details, call Joel Mabborang of Ming Ramos Badminton at 0927-5332988, 0916-5601740 or 0932-4713313 or email [email protected] or [email protected].
