Mayor’s aide slain

TUGUEGARAO , Philippines  —   An employee of a municipal mayor was bludgeoned to death in Ilocos Sur on Saturday. 

Carlito Ramos, 48, was driving a dump truck when he was reportedly waylaid by unidentified men in Sta. Cruz town.

 Ramos, administrative officer of Sta. Cruz Mayor Virgilio Valle, had just ferried a group of villagers to a fiesta celebration when he was killed, according to town police chief Senior Inspector Mark Odilon Lagman.

Probers said Ramos’ body bore signs of a severe beating.

The victim was found under a tree in Barangay Sidaoen at around 7 a.m.

 Police have yet to determine the motive for the killing.
