BATANGAS, Philippines - Tanauan City Mayor Antonio Halili was deeply disappointed in the transfer of his local police personnel to Binangonan for their alleged below par performances.

Halili reacted on Philippine Star report published on May 17, 2017 disputing Region 4 Director Chief Superintendent Mao Aplasca, on the “zero accomplishment in the campaign against illegal drugs” of the Tanauan police personnel.

Aplasca ordered the transfer of one police official and 83 non-commissioned officer including three of Halili's close-in security from Tanauan police station to Binangonan police station last May 16.

"General Aplasca might have been fed the wrong information and I would like to set the records straight in deference to the city’s previous police chiefs who have performed remarkably well,” Halili said.

To prove his claim, Halili presented a report submitted by the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) summarizing the commitments made at the city’s jail facilities from July of last year until May 3, 2017.

Halili said, "Of the total 308 individuals, 241 or 78% were arrested on drug-related offenses and were led in filing appropriate charges in the city’s different courts.”

“Since I took office in 2013, I have been relentless in the crusade to rid Tanauan City of this drug menace and other rogue elements and I was constantly under the CHR’s guns for doing the ‘walk of shame’ on criminals,” Halili said.

Halili's "Walk of Shame," his controversial practice of parading arrested criminals in the city’s public market, took the headlines since 2014.

“I am all-out in my support to the PNP’s initiatives but I also have to speak out and clear any wrong impression thrown at our local police,” the mayor added.
