Boat sinks off Negros; 8 survive

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines – A fishing boat with eight men on board sank after it was hit by a tugboat in the waters off EB Magalona town in Negros Occidental on Saturday night.

The fishermen of F/B DC jumped into the water and survived. No one was injured in the incident.

EB Magalona Mayor Marvin Malacon said the fishing boat was destroyed by the collision that occurred at around 8:30 p.m.

Initial investigation showed the T/B Sea Mine might have not noticed the F/B DC, although the fishing boat’s lights were switched on, according to deputy town police chief Inspector Ramsey Barro.
