MANILA, Philippines - Anti-narcotics agents of the Southern Police District (SPD) Tuesday morning intercepted a van left abandoned at the parking lot of a mall in Pasay City and containing at least 50 bags of shabu and various chemicals.

A report reaching the SPD headquarters said Jordan Bornia, a security guard at the SM-Mall of Asia alerted police at about 9 a.m. about the suspicious white Tansvan Foton van with conduction sticker GB2585 left at the seaside parking area of the mall.

When police arrived, an initial check was done thinking that the van contained an improvised explosive device. When the van tested negative for explosives, police then opened the vehicle.

Found inside the van were shabu packed inside a cardboard box in clear plastic bags and two more cardboard boxes loaded with assorted chemicals.

The SPD is now coordinating with the anti-car theft unit of the Pasay City Police to trace the owner or driver of the abandoned van.
