MANILA, Philippines—Agents of the Bureau of Immigration have arrested a Korean wanted in his own country for swindling.

The BI in a statement bared that operatives of the BI’s Fugitive Search Unit nabbed Park Petero (41) at his home along Plaridel Str., Brgy. Sto. Niño, Angeles City, Pampanga last September 26.

Immigration chief Jaime Morente said Park has a standing arrest warrant from a Korean court issued in 2015. Park is also a subject of a red notice from Interpol due to his fraud case in Korea.

BI Intelligence Office Bobby Raquepo, for his part, said that Park arrived in the country on Oct. 12, 2012, and has not left since then.

“Park is wanted for defrauding a fellow Korean of 60 million won which he borrowed from the victim on the pretext that he would invest the money in the cosmetics business,” the BI said.

Park told his victim that he would pay four-percent interest on the principal of his loan every month, but he reneged on his promise.

“He then fled to the Philippines upon learning that his victim has filed a complaint against him with the police,” Raquepo added.

The BI is set to deport Park for being an undesirable alien and for posing risk to public safety.
