Duterte visits wake of slain Caloocan cop

MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte has visited the wake of Caloocan cop killed by a gun-for-hire syndicate.

Duterte arrived at the wake of PO3 Junior Hilario at Neo Vista Subdivision, Bagumbong, Caloocan City past 4 p.m.

Hilario was gunned down by Jason dela Cruz alias Jason Killer, the leader of a gun-for-hire group and Mark Ian Herrera, also part of the syndicate last September 8.

Upon arriving, Duterte approached Hilario’s mother to express his condolences and lament the death of the 36 -year-old cop.

According to Caloocan City Police Chief Sr. Supt. Jemar Modequillo, the Caloocan City Police Community Precincts 3 and 5 were carrying out an anti-drug operation at Paraiso St., Sampaguita Subdivision, Brgy. 175 Camarin, Caloocan City.

Hilario was shot in the head by Dela Cruz.

Dela Cruz and Herrera, both suspected hired killers, were killed by the Caloocan police.

Department of the Interior and Local Government Officer-in-Charge Catalino Uy and Special Assistant to the President Bong Go were also with Duterte in visiting the wake.

Hilario was posthumously promoted to SPO1.

The Caloocan City police is currently embroiled in murder and torture complaints filed by kin of teenagers who were reportedly killed by Caloocan cops.

Just last month, the Caloocan Police station received a citation as the Best City Police station.

Last week, National Capital Region Police Director Oscar Albayalde sacked the entire Caloocan City police force, a day after members of the Caloocan Police Community Precinct 4 reportedly raided the house of an elderly woman and stole money and valuables.
