Leyte governor opens P2.9M gym, gives financial aids to barangays
MACARTHUR, LEYTE, Philippines — Leyte Governor Leopoldo Dominico Petilla had inaugurated the P2.9-million mini- gymnasium in MacArthur town of Leyte, about 56 kilometers south of Tacloban City.
The mini-gym, built from the funds of the provincial government, will also serve as an evacuation center of the barangay in times of calamities, the governor told reporters covering the event.
During the inauguration ceremonies, Petilla handed over checks as financial assistance to several barangay chairmen who attended the event.
The financial aids were as follows: P100,000 to Chairman Christopher Dagami of Barangay Burabod for improvement of the barangay hall; P100,000 for Geronimo Luangco of Brgy. San Antonio (for the purchase of waster/garbage segregation containers); P100,000 for Oscar Cañete of Causwagan (for renovation of barangay tanod outpost); P100,000 for Elpedio Torres of Batug (for construction of the village concrete road); P100,00 for Isaias Rapada of Oguisan (for construction of barangay police outpost); and P200,000 for Daniel Esplanada Jr. of Kiling (for the roofing of the barangay civic center).
