Tourism job fair to have 100 participating firms

CEBU, Philippines - At least 100 companies will be participating in the Tourism Job Fair of this year's Cebu Business Month.

To be held on June 15 at the Marco Polo Plaza Cebu, the job fair will have cruise liners, local and international hotel chains and properties, airlines, and manpower services, among other company participants offering job opportunities for the Cebuanos.

CBM 2016 tourism committee chairperson Julie Najar said rosy outlook of tourism sector in the Philippines, particularly Cebu, will bring in more tourism related job demands for Cebuanos.

Tourism employment in the country is estimated at 4.99 million with a share of 12.7 percent to national employment.

Meanwhile, Cebu's newly introduced brand "Cebu: Where the Heart Sings", will take centerstage during CBM 2016.

Najar said that different activities and promotional events will be suited  in accordance to the branding theme, an effort to strengthen the adoption of Cebu brand.

Although CBM 2016 carriess the theme "Digital Cebu," tourism related activities and establishments on the other hand, are encouraged to adopt the branding proposition.

Najar believes that starting a massive effort in adopting the brand, will encourage and inspire Cebuanos to promote their own province in a united branding theme. — (FREEMAN)
