McDonald’s renews partnership with DepEd Batangas for WIP
MANILA, Philippines - More senior high school (SHS) students will receive quality training as McDonald’s renews its partnership with the Batangas Division of the Department of Education (DepEd) for its Work Immersion Program.
The two parties signed a memorandum of agreement, which not only reinstates the collaboration, but also increases its coverage of schools.
From six pilot stores and 128 beneficiaries in 2016, an additional five stores will open its doors this year to provide useful teaching and learning experiences for Filipino youth.
As part of the K-12 Curriculum, the Work Immersion Program exposes senior high school students to the actual workplace setting related to their field of specialization. Under the guidance of industry experts and experienced employees such as the McDonald’s restaurant team members, students attain practical skills, and apply principles and theories taught in the classroom.
As the first batch of student beneficiaries in Batangas graduates from the program, McDonald’s hopes that they take the lessons they learned and apply them in their daily lives.
“It is our hope that through this program, students will not only learn valuable technical skills and expertise, but also take heart the values of hard work, responsibility, and team work — all of which McDonald’s champions and espouses in all its employees,” Chona Torre, McDonald’s Philippines senior vice president for human capital group.
