Scholarship portal for Filipinos launched

MANILA, Philippines – Social enterprise Edukasyon.ph has launched a scholarship portal on its website containing over 3,500 scholarships and other student aid opportunities for Filipino students.

The portal, which can be accessed at http://edukasyon.ph/en/institutions/scholarships, allows students to search for grants offered by organizations and academic institutions.

“Our mission is to inform the Filipino youth on ways for them to finish their studies. We believe that poverty should not be a hindrance in their education,” Edukasyon.ph founder Henry Motte-Muñoz said in a statement.

More than 500 public and private higher education institutions in the country already provided the group with their lists of scholarships for students.

Information on other grants from government agencies such as the Commission on Higher Education and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority can be accessed through the website.

“We envision that every student will succeed in his or her studies by choosing the appropriate course and school based on his or her knowledge, skills, interests and capabilities,” Motte-Muñoz said.

Founded in 2014, Edukasyon.ph started as a Harvard Business School proposal for an education startup. It has since expanded into a go-to source of information on local and international educational opportunities for high school students.

It currently has information on over 6,000 senior high schools, 2,000 higher education institutions and 4,000 technical-vocation schools.
