DOLE: Mananagat protektahan

CEBU, Philippines - Nagtoo ang Department of Labor and Employment-7 nga panahon na para mabalanse ang interes sa mga mamumuo ug operators sa fishing industry isip usa sa mga lakang sa implimentasyon sa  Department Order number 156.

"The presence of DOLE only aims to regulate the working and living conditions of the fishers and make sure that their rights and benefits in the workplace are promoted and respected in support to the Department's agenda on decent work," matud pa ni DOLE-7 regional director Elias Cayanong.

Ang DOLE-7 nagpahigayon og konsultasyon sa mga tag-iya og dagkong panagatan sa commercial fishing kabahin sa D. O. 156-16 o "Rules and Regulations Governing the Working and Living Conditions of Fishers Onboard Fishing Vessels Engaged in Commercial Fishing Operation."

Ang maong Order naglangkob kini sa tanang fishing  vessel owners, mga mananagat nga tripulante niini ug mga kapitan o masters sa mga Philippine-registered fishing vessels nga naghimo og commercial fishing operation sa Pilipinas ug gawas sa nasud.

Giawhag ni Cayanong ang tanang stakeholders nga mosabot aron dali ra masulbad ang mga problema ug gaps nga gi-identify sa fishing industry.

"We will only come in when it is work that we’re talking about. The workers’ humane conditions as well as their safety and health in the workplace," dugang pa ni Cayanong.

Sayo niining tuiga, giawhag sa hunta probinsyal ang DOLE nga panalipdan ang mga seamen ug mga mananagat batok sa illegal recruitment ug exploitation sa mga kompaniya sa barko.

Si Board Member Thadeo Ouano miingon nga 30% sa mga shipping companies apil ang mga panagatan sa kalibotan, mga Pilipino ang crew ug pipila kanila ang   giabuso.
