First Pinoy to be in space

WINNER. Chino Roque, a Crossfit coach and La Sallian graduate, is set to be the first Filipino to travel to space next year after winning a privately-sponsored contest to promote a brand of deodorant. The 23-year-old psychology graduate earned his ticket to space as one of 22 people from around the world who will take off on a pioneer suborbital flight to be launched by the Axe Apollo Space Academy.

COMMENTS. Said one observer: "Maypa siya. Kita ani, kanus-a pa kaha ta kasakay og rocket." Answered another: "Kahadlok pud anang moadto'g kawanangan uy. Di uroy ko mangandoy ana." Yet another chipped in: "Mao gyud. Kung mahutdan og gasoline ang rocket didto ibabaw, asa man magpatubil?"
